Eating Fish May Help Save Aging Eyes

A new study published in the Archives of Ophthalmology found that women who ate at least one serving of fish per week were 42 percent less likely to develop age-related macular degeneration (AMD), due to the benefits of omega-3 fatty acids.

AMD is a disease in which damage to nerve cells in the part of the eye called the macula causes blurry vision. AMD can make things like reading, driving, and recognizing faces difficult.

High intake of omega-3 fatty acids has long been linked to better heart health, helping to reduce inflammation and high blood pressure.
