Rejuvenate Sun Damaged Skin

After years of fun-filled days in the sun or even casual days spent without sunscreen, it's very likely you've found yourself with sun-damaged skin. Sun-damaged skin is apparent in the form of wrinkles, loss of elasticity & areas of rough/thickened skin. The most well-known skin affliction by the sun is "sun spots," which appear as areas or spots of darker pigmentation.Fortunately, although it takes time and patience, you can rejuvenate & repair sun-damaged skin.

                   Instructions

1. Prevent future damage. Because more sun will damage skin further, preventing future damage is the most important step you can take. Use sunscreen that protects from both UVA and UVB rays. Wear a daily facial moisturizer that contains an SPF of 25 or higher. Wear your SPF-laden moisturizer during spring, summer, fall and winter. Wear it on cloudy days, rainy days and sunny days. Wear it no matter what your ethnicity or tolerance to sun exposure may be.

2. Shield your skin from the sun as often as possible. Wear a hat, sit under a beach umbrella or stay in the shade of a tree while doing outdoor activities. Wear sunglasses as much as possible; they protect not only the sensitive skin around eyes but prevent squinting and subsequent fine lines around the eye area as well.

3. Rejuvenate your skin with vitamin A creams. Vitamin A creams remain the gold standard for repair of sun-damaged and aging skin. See a dermatologist to receive a prescription for these creams. Use a cream such as Renova, Retin-A or Retin-A Micro. Alternatively, use a Retinol product, which is a weaker vitamin A and doesn't require a prescription.

4. Apply an exfoliating facial scrub. Exfoliating is a valuable skin-care practice. It encourages skin to grow new cells more quickly by shedding off the old ones. Exfoliate your skin at least once each day.

5. Apply an antioxidant serum (such as vitamin C serum) underneath sunscreen. Antioxidants are able to reverse sun damage, according to Macrene Alexiades-Armenakas, a dermatologist quoted in a CNN.com article.

6. Consult a licensed dermatologist for treatment procedure options. Many treatments are designed to rejuvenate sun-damaged skin, including chemical peels and microdermabrasion.

Control Perfectionism!

The perfect is the enemy of the good. —Voltaire

The desire to excel is usually a good thing, but when it spills over into perfectionism it can also cause a lot of trouble, burn you out, and waste a lot of time. The key is finding the balance.

         Steps:
1. Forgive yourself for your shortcomings. Nobody's perfect, and everybody has strengths and weaknesses. That's not to say you should not try to grow. You can always learn something new or try to improve, but there are times when you'll have to go with what you already know and do what you can based on that. Don't waste time worrying about what you can't do (yet).
2. Focus on what is really needed. Is the real purpose to be perfect or produce a perfect result, or is it to get something done? What really matters? Perfectionism can often be the opposite of a timely result, because the uncertainty that comes with it leads to procrastination.
3. Define a goal. Knowing what you want to achieve not only helps you go in the right direction, but also helps you know when you are finished.
4. Separate Results from Judgment. Strive for the results that are best for you. Do not let your productivity be dictated by fear of others judgment. Accept a broader form of excellence, rather than narrowly defined perfection. Study to learn; rather than simple getting a perfect score. Eat and exercise for health and fitness; not for simple weight targets.
5. Learn from Judges/Critics. Achieving acceptance often is only a step to truly desired results. Do not set judgment up to be perfect. Expect to learn from the knowledgeable judges' opinions. Expect judges to help you improve, not simply give approval. Seek out diverse judges' opinions.
6. Get started. Even if you're not sure yet what you're doing, give it a try. You may be better at it than you think, or your task may be easier than you imagined it. Even if your first attempt doesn't get you anywhere, perhaps you'll know what or who to ask to get going. Or, you may just discover what not to do. Most of the time, you'll find that you imagined the barriers as larger than they really are.
7. Set a time limit. Some things, such as housekeeping, are never really finished. No matter how well you clean the floor today, it'll get just as muddy tomorrow when somebody forgets to wipe his/her feet. Instead of spending hours scrubbing, set a timer for a reasonable amount of time, and clean for just that long. On a longer or more detailed project, a deadline, even a self-imposed one, can get you started and keep you moving instead of worrying over details. Break things up into smaller parts or intermediate goals if they're too big.
8. Try new things. The accepted method isn't always the best and doesn't always work. Whether you're inventing something or learning a new language, you will have some false starts. In fact, the newer and more unusual an activity you undertake, the more you will have to learn by trial and error. Then, be sure to learn from your mistakes.
9. Recognize the beauty and benefits in imperfection. Dissonant harmonies in music can create tension and drama. Leaves left on the ground insulate plants' roots and decompose to nourish the soil.
10. Reflect on your failures. Failure is relative. Perhaps you thought your cookies were a bit overdone, but everybody else gobbled them up. As the doer, you probably know more about what went in than anybody. Whoever benefited from your work cares more about the result and may never even notice the process. In addition, consider what you learned from your failures, and how that will help you do a better job next time.
11. Reflect on your successes. Think back to something you have done or made that was successful. It may not have been perfect, but it still achieved a goal or objective. Probably you experienced some uncertainty along the way to creating that success. Your reservations and concerns may keep you out of trouble, but don't let them drag you into inaction. Rather than do a few things perfectly, accomplish many things successfully.

From feeling good to looking good ;)

It's that time of year you're trying to put a kilo or two before the summer sun sun reaches their free time. You are thinking about how I will fit in a bikini last year?  You have a sneaky feeling you might have stood out a bit in the abdomen region. You've been to the gym several times during the cold winter period, but could not get rid of that last bit of bulk to make you fit and attractive to its bed on the beach of choice. What to do ...? First, follow these simple steps for the last few weeks before your holiday as expected.

Step 1: Drink water instead of sugary drinks and alcohol to save time until you are in the party as expected (if possible). You do not need an average of 180 calories extra contribution. Why take those calories as water has none. Try to keep two 1-litre bottles on hand and finish two of these a day and more if you can handle. You will be amazed at what a high consumption of water can do for your appearance

Step 2: Keep your portion size to a minimum. If you are of a Mediterranean-type family and have many plates full of food before you choose to try to have just any food served on a plate. Do not add additional items to your plate once you have started eating and if the family is too aggressive when it comes to food then do not eat with them, make excuses until the holiday is over and eats alone in his place. If you are not a Mediterranean family then just try to eat a little less than normal.

Step 3: Take a quick 10-20 minute walk in the morning and if possible at night as well. Leave
the car at home and more walk to the corner store and back. Maybe you use the bike to go to work for two or three weeks before your holiday.

Step 4: Let your body be faithful to your mouth and your mouth will be faithful to his stomach. Do you really need that second piece of birthday cake? Do you really need to have seconds? Do you really need to have the chocolate bar and then say to yourself, "I will work out later in the gym." It is better not just fall into temptation and have that perfect beach body ready to be bronzed by the sun's rays beautiful summer.

Step 5: You can make your regular dance classes and aerobics classes at the local gym to keep the court from the beach, but it is also advisable that the last two weeks before your holiday in the perfect sandy beach, her dress bath time beach runway model, you need to do some weight training.  If you put these machines in the lowest position to handle and 3 sets of 10-15 reps, you will start seeing your body tone up means that the muscle begins to pull tighter and hide or distribution of housing areas less sensitive gives a better overall look. After doing all this for the last few weeks, then have a better more toned and well, swimsuit and bikini body ready to talk, "look at me!" "I look good!"

Hot Trends for Men (Spring 2011)

The Bold Check: The Look: For the new season, you'll see this high-volume pattern cranked up on everything from trousers and three-piece suits to short trench coats. But like drinking absinthe and listening to Rush, wearing checks works best when done in moderation. So start small, and even then, balance the experiment with something more straightforward.

The Double-Breasted suite: The Look: On the runways for spring, we saw DB's on the runways of Southern gentlemen (Billy Reid), Northeastern prepsters (Tommy Hilfiger), and Italian classicists (Giorgio Armani, at left). Which means it's the kind of thing you can wear whether you spend your weekends hunting, at polo matches, or brunching in Lake Como. Just remember: keep it trim, unless you happen to be a balding, stogie-chomping mob boss from the '30s. In which case, godspeed.

The Nautical Sweater: The Look: Kennedy. Picasso. These are men who knew the pleasures of ocean-ready knitwear — which is to say, typically striped, typically warm, and typically worn by someone who knows how to make the most of a yacht. We particularly like Trussardi 1911's take — done up in a slightly less traditional black, which is handy if you plan on going pirate Contrast-Color Wingtips: The Look: Since there's really no reason to restrict spring colors to the zone above your ankles, a variety of labels produced dress shoes in colors beyond — okay, way beyond — the standard black and brown. You'll want to wear them with jeans, khakis, or anything else that won't make you look like you were dressed by Willy Wonka. The Trimmed Tennis Sweater: The Look: While Rafa's neons and Borg's headband deserve honorable mentions, few tennis greats have endured like Rene Lacoste's classic sweater. This year you'll see a bumper crop of trimmer knits, which work just as well on the court as they would at the office on a Friday afternoon.

Massage Your Back with a Ball!

When you have no one to massage your back, you can give your back a mini massage by using a ball, a wall, and patience. This works best for the muscles in your back, especially all of those tight places you can't reach. All you need is a ball--if you don't have a massage ball (shown here) a racket ball, a tennis or bouncy-ball will work.

Steps

  1. Put your back against a wall with your feet about 6 inches or so away from the wall.
  2. Place ball between your back and the wall.
  3. Carefully apply your body weight against the wall, until you get the desired pressure.
  4. Rock your body back and forth and up and down to move the ball around your back.

Warnings

Avoid putting too much pressure on your spine, during the massage, especially if you are using a solid or very firm ball.

Get rid of those bags under your eyes!

Healthy eyes

First of all you are probably wondering why we get bags under our eyes. This is most likely due to;

AGING - As we get older, our skin that is made of collagen deteriorates, losing its elastic capabilities. Inside our eyes is also fat which also tends to droop down as we get older.

GENES - if your parents had bags under their eyes, chances are that you’ll eventually have them too.

ALLERGIES - You feel horrible with allergies, it will make the bags look worse as well.

When things start sagging, it's time to pick them up. Maybe walking on your hands will help.

GET REST - If you have bags under your eyes, it could be that you are not resting properly. Get some sleep so the circulation under your eyes improves.

AVOID SALTY FOODS- Salty foods accumulate water.

GET SOME WATER - Some people who don't drink enough fluids get bags under their eyes.

EXERCISE - Exercise helps improve circulation around your body, and it will help reduce the puffiness under your eyes.

CUCUMBERS - You've seen it in magazines and in TV, and there is a good reason! Cucumbers help to

Healthy eyes packs

alleviate and tone your eyes. Lie down for about 20 minutes with slices of cucumbers on your eyes and you'll notice the difference. As an alternative to cucumbers, you can place damp tea bags as well. If caffeinated,

they are even better. Get two tea bags, dampen them and cool them in the refrigerator overnight. Place them in the morning for 10 minutes. You'll notice the difference.

RETINOL AND VITAMIN E EYE CREAM - Creams with retinol and Vitamin E help to alleviate discoloration and puffiness. It also helps to remove wrinkles.

Which one is your favorite way to relax?
